Design is not black & white…or?

Sparse color can be just as stunning as any jewel toned scheme. These are a few black and white spaces that caught our attention. There is so much more to interior design than color: Shape, texture, space, and light take center stage when color is scarce.

In this dining room, elegant black lines define the backs of seats, a clear glass reflective rectangle pulls the eye to the center and light from a detailed chandelier and candlesticks create interest. Laquer and chrome accents make this dining area dazzle. Imagine how delectable your next dinner party would look against this graceful backdrop.

A black and white bedroom is anything but bland. Here, the monochromatic palette allows the bold sculptural elements of the artwork to stand out without overpowering. Detail and curved lines in the furniture balance out the harshness of a minimally furnished space. A glossy floor is offset by an asymmetrical textured rug.

Black and white is not for everyone! But at Contour, we know that design is not just about color.  Space, form and texture are just as important in any space.
